The Bloomsburg Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragic events that have fallen on the Virginia Tech campus.
As a concerned citizen you should know that the Town of Bloomsburg continues to be one of the safest communities in northeast Pennsylvania.
Further, the Bloomsburg Police Department is one of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's forty-seven Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies and is the state's only Accredited Agency located in northeastern Pennsylvania. There are currently over 1200 police departments in Pennsylvania.
Bloomsburg Police Officers provide a full range of professional police services to both the community's year-round residents as well as university students who live off campus within the town.
Law Enforcement works closely with other local, state and federal agencies and regularly meets with and trains in high risk incidents in a multitude of scenarios. The Police Department in March of 2007 co-hosted and implemented a training exercise dealing with a critical incident at a local high school.
Again, our agency has implemented and incorporated multiple violence prevention strategies and addressed a full range of responsibilities to ensure the safety of our community.
