LYSERGIC ACID DIETHYLAMIDE (LSD)

Slang or Street Names: Acid, Juice, Dots, A-Bombs, Trips

History: LSD is a hallucinogen now manufactured in clandestine labratories using dangerous chemicals. It was first developed as a circulatory and respiratory stimulant in the 1930's. The Controlled Substance Act of 1970 classified LSD as a Schedule I drug.

Identification: LSD is colorless, odorless and tastless. It is taken orally and is usually applied to blotter paper with colorful designs or tablets referred to as Microdots.

Effects: The effects of LSD use include rapid changes in emotion, decreased body temperature, rapid heart rate, hallucinations, impaired judgement and distortion.
